Live at the Park 2017 – What a great weekend that was!
Thank you to everybody who came along, joined in, enjoyed and helped LATP2017 be our best event yet! Faringdon’s Strongest Man & Woman (Mission Fitness) & the Strutt Your Mutt dog show, were certainly great additions to our Saturday afternoon line-up.
The bands, acts & DJ on both days were fantastic, there was a bit of everything for the crowd to enjoy. On Friday we started with No Man’s Land, then DJ Moss finishing with local favourites Young Rosie. Saturday opened with the nervous and very entertaining John McDonough, second up was Paige Jackson, followed by Crows Foot, these all playing LATP for the first time. Then LATP regulars Dirty Deeds got the crowd rocking before The Primates took to the stage to bring the weekend to a brilliant close.
Rod Green and his crew were in charge of the stage lighting again this year and didn’t disappoint. They stepped it up and bettered last year’s display. All the lighting is set-up and taken down on both days, so it’s a big job and we push them to the limit each time.
Faringdon Firefighters came to the show with 2 engines and a special service vehicle and I lost count of how many Firefighters! Their activities gave us a fun insight into how the service works (plus half of our pitch got a very welcome watering). Other stall holders on the day included Faringdon Pre-School, Faringdon Infant School, The Quad Tea & Coffee Shop, Clares Face Painting, Better Leisure, Matt Fiddes Martial Arts, Sunshine Cat Rescue, SilverJacs, Stay Grounded Coffee and Craig Howes Photography. We’re looking forward to seeing all the photos taken by Craig over the weekend. We will post a gallery of 2017 images as soon as they’re ready. When you add George Scarrotts Family Fun Fair into the mix, it really is a cracking day for the whole family.
All players taking part in our mini football tournament looked like they had a great time. Rob and Adam from FTFC U10s made sure it was played in the right manner with plenty of goals being scored!
Our small band of committee members are helped along the way by many volunteers, taking on the bbq, bar, putting up tents, taking down tents, litter picking and generally making sure the weekend works, so to all of them MASSIVE THANKS. You know who you are!!! I’m going to pick out a couple by name for a change, Paul and Derek on the BBQ were immense and BBQ’d their socks off all weekend.
The LATP raffle was won by Jacqui Lund (‘barrow of beer), with Daryll Curtis and Rob Bourton winning places to the Adam Bradley Football Coach Summer Camp.
Finally, to the all local businesses who put their hands in their pockets and sponsored/advertised LATP, they really do make a difference and make it possible to put the event on.
